5 Things To Do In Negril, Jamaica with Kids

Below we break our (amazing!) trip down into 5 different parts to give you an inside scoop on tips for making the most of time in Negril.

If you want a quick summary, scroll to bottom and watch the vlog of our trip.

GG Sisters’ To Dos in Jamaica When Travelling with the Family:

1) Dolphin Cove – We took the kids swimming with dolphins and it was an amazing experience. If actually swimming with them isn’t your thing, they have another fee you can pay to just watch, so definitely ask about that.

2) Zimbali Farm to Table Cooking Show – One of the best experiences of our lives. There’s a beautiful trek just to get there, and then when you arrive, it feels like you’ve just been transported to this magical peaceful place in the middle of nowhere. It was like you were suddenly in an adult tree house.

You then get a tour of the farm where they show you where the food they make for you comes from and explain all the ins and outs of farm life.

You sit around a kitchen as hosts create and give you lessons on the food you are about to eat. It was worth every penny and we highly recommend it.

Just a note that because of the travel involved in the trek to the farm, Josie did not come here with the baby, so this is something that we would recommend for kids at least 6 and up.

3) Rick’s Café – This is a great spot to see people diving at night, and especially beautiful at sunset. Another tip: Get a taxi to take you here if you’re in Negril – it’s way cheaper than booking with a tour operator.

4) Xtabi’s On the way back from Rick’s, head on over to Xtabi’s. This is a beautiful restaurant on the cliffs overlooking the water. Along with the gorgeous views, the food was also really good and very reasonable.

5) Royalton Negril Resort and Spa – We stayed at the Royalton Negril and our package was with Sunwing, a beautiful property that just opened in January 2017. Walking in, we were greeted with trendy furniture, comfy sun loungers, and the coziest beds we have ever slept in. The restaurant décor and furnishing was all super high end as well, which doesn’t hurt!

Our fave restaurants on the resort were Hunter Steakhouse and Zen Japanese Teppenyaki, and towards the last two days of our trip, the Grazie Italian restaurant became an instant favourite, too.

The staff at the resort was beyond nice, friendly and accommodating. Mainly, reservations – both with restaurants and with beach chairs. They had great entertainment for the whole family, including a magic show, kids talent show, adult game show and a Bob Marley cover band.

Ella went to the kids club twice and loved it. She made crafts and if you watch the video below, you can see her doing a science experiment on the beach.

On the main floor, there was the Scoops Café. We loved it. They have a menu with milkshakes, ice cream, iced coffees, cookies, mini cakes and sandwiches. This was a perfect place to stop by every day after lunch, and for a quick snack before bed.

To the right of Scoops Café was a sports bar, which has a super fun pool table and soccer table. You could order hamburgers, chicken wings, fries, poutine, wraps and onion rings – THE best onion rings! We would come here whenever we wanted a fun, casual lunch.

For breakfast, we always did the buffet – it was amazing with its made-to-order omelettes and smoothies!

To mix things up at lunch, we would either hit up the BBQ by the pool and have some jerk chicken and rice, or we’d drop by the Italian restaurant. Their calamari, mozzarella sticks, penne with sauce and Nutella crepes were amazing!

Apart from the daily food & fun, a must-do was the foam party – this was the highlight of the trip for the kids. We actually got to do this twice – once at the splash pad for kids, and again in the main pool. Overall, this resort had a ton of entertainment for the kids.
